Daddy Joe and Mommy Jean

The video to the left shows Tom R. Chambers and his parents around 1950. The photograph was made by his grandmother (his mom's mom [Mattie Oline (Battles) Meekins]) on her homestead in Hynds City, eight miles north of Nocona, Texas on FM 103. Chambers considers this image all-inclusive as it relates to his relationship with and upbringing by his parents. He has repeated and extended the image as a video production to accentuate his time spent with them. His father (Joe R. Chambers) was a cable splicer, and he worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Texas and later for electrical contractors, worldwide. He passed away in 1986 at the age of 65. His mother (Tommy Jean [Meekins] Chambers) was a bank teller (Farmers and Merchants), telephone switchboard operator and housewife. She passed away in 1983 at the age of 58.
